GEORGE JAY BACON was born to Gary and Kristi (Preston) Bacon on July 30, 1978, in Fremont, Nebraska. He passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. George spent his life in Lyons, Nebraska where he enjoyed the outdoors, animals, rodeos and his family.

He received his education at Lyons-Decatur Northeast High School where he was an active member of FFA and 4-H, a highlight of which was showing cattle at the annual Burt County Fair. After high school, he continued the third generation family business of Bacon Sodding.  George’s lifelong passion for horses led him to enter weekend team roping competitions throughout the Midwest.   More than anything, George loved his son and best-friend, Nathan.

George was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Kevin; cousin, Amy Anderson; two uncles, Sam and Kevin Bacon; and grandfather, George Bacon.

Survivors include his son, Nathan Bacon and partner Jessica Feltman of Glenwood, Iowa; parents, Gary and Kristi Bacon of Lyons; sister and brother-in-law, Cassie and Ryan Rasmussen of Des Moines, Iowa; brother & partner, Alan Bacon and Cassie Haeffner of Hooper, Nebraska; nephews and niece, Blake, Hunter and Kennedy Bacon of Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska;  grandparents, Rex and Donna Preston  and Lillian Bacon of Lyons;  and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.   He loved and was loved dearly by his entire family.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, January 27, 2012, 4:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons, Nebraska.

VISITATION: Family and Friends are welcomed at the home of Gary and Kristi Bacon, 205 S. 7th Street, Lyons.
