STANLEY R. ANDERSON was born January 6, 1936, in West Point, Nebraska, to Russel and Ebba (Erickson) Anderson. He passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at his home in Branson, Missouri, of a heart attack at the age of 74 years. Stan graduated from Oakland High School, Oakland, Nebraska. He attended Wayne State Teachers College and later the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska. Stan moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1956, where he met and married Norma Patterson on July 13, 1957. Stanley worked at Valley Federal Savings and Loan for 25 years and rose to the position of Senior Vice President. He was very active on the City Council and also served one term as Mayor of the city (appointed). Stan was past president of the Grand Junction Board of Realtors, Kiwanis International and was active in several church and business groups. In 1968, Stan was honored in his early years as 1 of 3 outstanding young men of Colorado. Stan was well thought of at Point Royale Golf Community, where he worked and still tried to perfect his game occasionally. He also enjoyed yard work and helping other. Stan’s true generosity was exemplified by his decision to be an organ donor. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Daniel Anderson. Stan is survived by his wife, Norma; daughter, Linda (Jack) Sypolt of Ellensburg, Washington, sons, Steve (Maria) of Dallas, Texas, Randy of Smyrna, Georgia; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Claire (Gail) Anderson of Fairview, Texas; sister, Karen (Gaylen) Montgomery of Underwood, Iowa.
