Anna Mae Anderson

1923 ~ 2011

 

ANNA MAE (JOHNSON) ANDERSON was born to Oswald and Esther (Larson) Johnson on July 20, 1923 in Oakland, NE.  She passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons, NE.

 As a little girl, Anna Mae loved to attend Sunday School at the Salem Covenant Church in Oakland.  When she was seven years old, she moved with her family to Lyons.  She attended Lyons Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1941.

 On September 2, 1945, Anna Mae was united in marriage to Wilton Anderson and to this union two daughters were born: Julie Ann and Jan Lee.  They farmed for many years west of Lyons until 1987 when they retired and moved to town.

 Anna Mae was a homemaker and quite the seamstress, sewing all of the clothes for her daughters and herself.  She also loved to bake.  Her specialties were her cinnamon rolls and her famous sugar cookies.  She was also a member of two ladies groups; Westside Aid and the Ladies Aid at church.  She was one of the charter members of Bethany Lutheran Church, where she was still a member.

 Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilton Anderson; daughter, Julie Erickson; son-in-law, Gordon Erickson; infant sister, Doris; infant brothers, Clarence and Dave; sisters, Dorothy Swanson, Fern Olson and Lauraine Sappingfield; brothers, Emerald and Lauren Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Terry Griffin of Omaha, NE; her sister and brother-in-law, Dorrell and Ernest Alexander of Tekamah; brother-in-law, Carol Sappingfield of Gothenburg, NE; sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson of Oakland; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 26, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons.
