THELMA ELIESE (FEHRER) ANDERSON was born February 18, 1915, at Bloomfield, Nebraska, to Leo and Meta (Bloedorn) Fehrer. She passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years. Thelma was baptized at Bloomfield as an infant and was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Bancroft in 1930. On January 16, 1937, Thelma married Ivan Anderson at the St. Paul’s Lutheran parsonage. To this union three children were born: Ardythe, Mardelle and Merlin. They lived and reared their family on their farm northwest of Oakland near Morningside School. In March of 1962, she, Ivan and Merlin moved to Ivan’s family’s farm south of West Side United Methodist Church. Ivan died in April 1969 and Thelma moved to Oakland later that year. She worked for Geary Well and cooked at Oakland Heights for several years before retiring. She moved to Oakland Heights Assisted Living Center in September 2005. Following a fall and broken hip in April this year, her health has declined. Thelma was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland,the R-Q Club and Morningside Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan; sisters: Loretta Goodwin and Darlene Peters; sons-in-law: Harlan Slatt andWalter Gocek; grandson: David Slatt. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Ardythe and John Cederberg of Oberlin, Kansas, Mardelle Gocek of Bellevue, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law: Merlin and Rosemary of Oakland; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Alta Jelinski of Little Falls, Minnesota, Bernice (Bernard) Stumpe of Scribner, Nebraska; brothers, Orville (Doris) Fehrer of Lyons and Melvin (Judy) Fehrer of West Point, Nebraska; brother-in-law: Aaron Peters of Scribner, Nebraska. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, August 2, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. VISITATION: Friday, August 1, 2008, 1 – 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. all at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will also be held Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. INTERMENT: West Side Cemetery, rural Oakland, Nebraska MEMORIALS: Donor’s choice
