Richard K. Anderson

1943 ~ 2011

RICHARD KENT ANDERSON was born October 13, 1943, in West Point, Nebraska, to Elmer A. and Gladys W. (Johnson) Anderson. He passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, at the age of 67 years.

Richard attended rural grade school, Dist. 27 and Dist. 69. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1961 and Universal Trade School in Omaha in mechanics. Richard served in the US Air Force from 1964 to 1968.

In 1968, Richard married Mary Ann Bratek.  Richard lived in Iowa and worked in the travel trailer industry from 1968 to 1972. He worked at Malcolm in the bait and convenience store from 1972 until 1980,   for Farmland at the Crete pork plant from 1980 until 1983, when he moved to Oakland and sold Pioneer seed and worked on the farm.

Richard was a member of the American Legion Post No. 46 in Oakland and an active volunteer at the Salem Food Pantry. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching OC sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald and Delmer and son, Andrew.

Survivors include his daughter, Andrea (Cory) Nebeker of Farr West, Utah; granddaughters, Tori and Sierra; brother, Gaylen (Nadine) Anderson of Oakland; sister-in-law, Neva Anderson of Raymond, Nebraska; two nephews, Dan Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Maury Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and niece, Julie Thompson of N. Ogden, Utah.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, March 5, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Salem Covenant Church in rural Oakland.

VISITATION: Friday, March 4, 2011, 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation Saturday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

BURIAL: Salem Cemetery, rural Oakland with Military Honors by Ryan VFW Post No. 5543 and American Legion Post No. 46
