MARIE SVEA ANDERSON was born west of Oakland, Nebraska, at a farm home on June 16, 1920, to Sigfrid and Selma (Peterson) Carlson. On Monday, March 30, 2009, at the age of 88, Marie passed from this life to the next where she met her Savior, Jesus Christ, along with family members and friends who had placed their faith in Him. Marie grew up on a farm north of Oakland. She graduated from Oakland High School, having celebrated her 70 year class reunion last year. Marie married Kermit W. Anderson on January 7, 1939, and eventually settled west of Oakland where they attended the Salem Evangelical Covenant Church. She was very involved in various Bible study groups, teaching Sunday School even in her later years. Marie loved to quote Psalm 23, John 3:16, and the Lord’s Prayer. Marie and Kermit were married for 54 years, prior to his passing on December 29, 1993. Shortly thereafter, Marie moved to Oakland where she attended the First Baptist Church. In June of 2007, she moved to the Oakland Nursing Home. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kermit; three brothers, Leonard, Paul, and Raymond; daughter, DeEtte Monson; daughter-in-law, Pam Anderson; son-in-law, LeeRoy Petersen; a great grandson; a great-great grandson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Remaining to mourn her passing are her daughter, Janell Petersen of Lyons, Nebraska; son, Loren Anderson and wife, Pat, of Scottsdale, Arizona; son-in-law, Floyd Monson, of Talmage, Nebraska; daughter, Glenice Webster and husband, Gary, of Laurel, Nebraska; son, Rodney Anderson and wife, Donna, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters, Lillian Mueller and Irene Edmisten, of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, April 3, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oakland. VISITATION: Thursday, April 2, 2009, 1 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland and Friday at the church one hour prior to the service BURIAL: Salem Cemetery, rural Oakland, Nebraska MEMORIALS: To the Family
