ELMER A. ANDERSON was born April 19, 1909, to John Werner and Selma Alfrida (Carlson) Anderson on a farm two miles northeast of Bristow, Nebraska. He passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska at the age of 100 years.
Elmer was confirmed at the Rosedale Covenant Church in 1922. He attended High School until he was needed on the farm.
On September 15, 1937, Elmer and Gladys (Johnson) were united in marriage at the Salem parsonage. It was a double wedding with Gladys’s sister Viola and Harry Peterson.
Elmer and Gladys farmed near Pender, West Point and Oakland from 1937 to 1974. In 1991 they moved into Oakland.
Elmer was a faithful member of Salem Covenant Church, and held many positions on the church board through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, Delmar and Gerald Anderson; a grandson, two great grandchildren, brothers: Ed, Einer and Eric; sisters: Elsa Barnard and Elvira Carlson.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law: Richard Anderson of Oakland, Gaylen and Nadine Anderson of Oakland and Neva Anderson of Malcolm, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Julie Thompson and her husband, Doug, of Ogden, Utah, Dan Anderson and his wife, Kelli, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Maury Anderson and his wife, Regina, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Andrea Nebeker and her husband, Cory, of Farr West, Utah; eight great grandchildren, William & Anna Thompson, Stephanie, Taylor, Brady & Lily Anderson, Tori & Siera Nebeker.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, May 2, 2009, at11:00 a.m. at the Salem Covenant Church, rural Oakland, Nebraska
VISITATION: Friday 1 - 8 p.m. with family recieving friends 6 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Services Oakland and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.
BURIAL: Salem Cemetery, rural Oakland, Nebraska.
