AMBROSE ARDO ANDERSON was born May 8, 1925, in Cuming County, Nebraska, to Sigord C. J. and Frances (Johnson) Anderson. He passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Ambrose attended rural school in Cuming County until 1937, when the family moved into Oakland. He graduated from Oakland High School in 1943. Ambrose served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945. In his early years, Ambrose, his father and brother played and sang on the radio in Fremont on Sunday afternoons. They were known as the Anderson Trio. When he returned from the service, they played in various churches. On April 30, 1950, Ambrose married Corallie Erickson at the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland. They made their home in Oakland until 1978, when they moved to Fremont. Ambrose drove a tank wagon for Mobil and operated the Mobil Station in Oakland with his brother and father. He later bought a dump truck and hauled rock along the Missouri river for several years. Ambrose then worked at the former Campbell Soup Company for 25 years. Ambrose was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland and a member of the American Legion Post No. 46 in Oakland. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sanford; sister and brother-in-law, Verona and Kenneth Olson. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Corallie; daughters and son-in-law, Candace Burton of Fremont, Mary and Michael Brenning of Lincoln; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle & Daphne Anderson of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Carlin, Emma and Cash; sister-in-law, Leona Anderson of Oakland; brother- and sister-in-law, Leonard and Shirley Erickson of Oakland; nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, July19, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, Oakland, Nebraska. BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS: Salem Cemetery, Rural Oakland by American Legion Post No. 46 and Ryan VFW Post No. 5543. VISITATION: Sunday, July 18, 2010, 4 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS: Evangelical Free Church or Donor's Choice
