Irene M. Andersen

IRENE M. ANDERSEN was born February 1, 1913, in West Point, Nebraska, to Charles W. and Elizabeth (Schultz) Mack. She passed away Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Oakland Mercy Hospital in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 97 years.

Irene attended West Point Grade School and High School. She was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point.

On February 25, 1931, Irene and Jens Andersen were united in marriage at the Lutheran parsonage in Oakland by Dr. Laure. They made their home on the home place for twelve years, where their two sons, Richard and Donald were born. In 1943, the family moved to a farm near Uehling. Following Jens death in 1992, Irene made her home in Oakland. In her later years, she resided at Oakland Heights Nursing Home.

Irene was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Oakland, the Dorcas Society and the Happy Hour Club.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Patsy of Fremont, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Mary of Craig, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jens, son, Richard; brothers, Arthur and Raymond Mack.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, 2011, 2:00 P.M. AT FIRST EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH IN OAKLAND.

A private family burial was held in the Argo Cemetery, rural Uehling.

Memorials may be directed to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.
