MABLE MARY (CLEMENTS) AHRENS was born August 19, 1922, in Valier, Montana, to Rueben and Ruth (Nelson) Clements. She passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah, Nebraska at the age of 89 years. At the age of three years, Mabel moved with her family to Nebraska. She spent the rest of her life in the Tekamah area, where she attended grade school and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1939. On February 4, 1943, Mabel married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Ahrens, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. They had two daughters, Susan, born January 13, 1947, and Cindy born October 26, 1949. After two years in the service, they settled on the farm where they lived for more than 60 years. Mabel was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, sang in the choir and was church secretary for more than 30 years. Mabel loved to sing, garden and walked every day until her early 80’s. One of her great joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and sisters and beloved daughter, Susan. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Ken of Tekamah; daughters, Cindy (Will) Belfrage; son-in-law, Guy Williamson; three grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Thayer-Mencke, Christine Williamson, K.J. (Manni) Belfrage; four great grandchildren, Cale and Grady Belfrage, Emilee and Beau Thayer-Mencke; brother, Floyd (Marge) Clements; brother- and sister-in-law, Eldon and Helen Ahrens; many nieces, nephews and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, September 12, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. VISITATION: Sunday 4 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 8 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah. Visitation Monday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
